The latest USDA crop progress report showed 59% of corn crops were silking in the week ended July 19, ahead of the 30% reported silking in the same week last year. This also exceeded the 5 year average of 54%. North Carolina reported the most corn silking at 94%. Corn dough came in at 9%, ahead of last year's 4% and the 5 year average of 7%. Texas reported the most corn dough at 63%. Corn crop condition remained unchanged from the previous week at 52% in "good" condition and 17% in "excellent" condition.

Soybean blooming progress also remains ahead of last year's progress at 64%, nearly double what it was this time last year and ahead of the 57% 5 year average. Louisiana led the charge with 94% of its soybeans blooming. One quarter of soybeans were reported as setting pods in the latest report, more than four times the 6% reported this time last year and ahead of the 5 year average of 21%. Soybean crop condition rose slightly from last week, with crops in "good" condition unchanged at 54% and crops in "excellent" condition up to 15% from 14% last week.
