Learning by doing has always been a philosophy applied by Rock Creek, Minn., farmer Jon Stevens on his 700-acre operation. Moving from years of conventional tillage practices to no-till and strip-till starting in 2013, Jon embraces the systematic approach to building soil health, while understanding the that farm profitability, doesn’t necessarily mean being the highest-yielding farmer.
In today’s Strip-Till Farmer podcast, supported by the Agrisolutions, we share excerpts from my conversation with Jon during a visit to his Maple Creek Farms operation, where he talks about his transition into strip-till and recent re-introduction of cattle back onto the farm.
