[Video] Improving Outcomes through On-Farm Precision Experimentation

According to University of Illinois professor David Bullock, the key to managing agricultural inputs well is to understand how weather, field characteristics and managed variables impact yield. Unfortunately, despite decades of experiments, there’s little clarity about this.

With a $4 million USDA grant, Bullock is implementing a Data Intensive Farm Management program to utilize precision technology for large-scale, on-farm “checkerboard” trials — inexpensively. Bullock discusses the scope of the project, the data that is being gathered, and how it is generating profitable management advice for growers around the globe.
