Best of the Web This Week is brought to you by Crystal Green® by Ostara.
Crystal Green (5-28-0 with 10% Mg) is the only granular phosphate fertilizer that releases nutrients in response to crop demand. With its unique organic acid solubility, delivering phosphorus plus magnesium and nitrogen, Crystal Green enables growers to do more with less, achieving higher yields with fewer inputs and reduced environmental impact.
What No-Tillers Should Know About Strip-Till
The National Strip-Tillage Conference just added a new wrinkle to the program. Loran Steinlage of West Union, Iowa, will host a webinar, Ask the Operator: What No-Tillers Should Know About Strip-Till, LIVE from the main stage Friday, August 4th at 7 am Central Time. Steinlage and some of the top strip-tillers in the U.S. will talk about how the growing practice fits into a conservation-minded farmer’s toolbox and other innovative strategies for improving soil health and economics while maintaining high yields.
Researchers Studying Benefits of Strip-Till in Alberta
“We’ve been finding that strip-till is really just that middle ground (between no-till and full tillage),” says Carlo Van Herk. The Farming Smarter research technician is studying the potential benefits of strip-till in canola fields in Alberta. Read more about what his team has learned about strip-till in this article from the Western Producer.

Strip-Till Corn on Corn Success in a Drought
Here’s another photo that caught our eye while scrolling through Twitter. Caleb Wolters’ strip-till corn on corn is looking pretty good despite severe drought conditions near the Wisconsin/Iowa/Illinois border.

What Do Strip-Tillers Think About Biostimulants?
Farmers think there’s a lot to be desired when it comes to nitrogen-fixing biological products, according to analysis of a recent Stratus Ag Research survey about farmers’ opinions on biostimulants. “While there is nuance to interpreting the results, it illustrates we still have a way to go regarding effective biostimulant utilization within North America,” writes agribusiness journalist Shane Thomas in an article breaking down the data.
