Strip-Till Farmer editors encounter a variety of articles, social media posts, podcasts and videos that offer a unique look at the grower's world from the lofty digital realm. Here is our favorite content from the past week from across the web:

Aphid Invasion in Heart of Corn Belt

Howard Brown warns farmers to be on the lookout for aphids on corn. He shared this picture on X of significant corn leaf aphid populations in pollinating corn north of Bloomington, Ill. This reminds me of a No-Till Farmer article featuring entomologist Thomas Dykstra, who says aphids only attack unhealthy plants. “If you have insects attacking your crop, your crop is suffering in some fashion or another,” Dykstra says. “No insect will attack a healthy plant.”

What Makes the Biggest Impact on Yield?

In this video, CEO of Continuum Ag Mitchell Hora discusses what factors have the biggest impact on yield and what has no connection. After cutting back on inorganic P & K, Hora found that what is actually driving yield is bio extractable carbon and biological activity. After that, he says it’s best to let the natural system do its job.

Adam Fennig checks in from the Fennig Equipment field day near Coldwater, Ohio, where he’s making strips through wheat stubble with a Dawn Pluribus strip-till rig. He shows off the unique features of the row units, which allow for coulter and knife setups.

Port Rowan, Ont., strip-tiller Dan Petker documents the tangible benefits from his strip-till switch in this YouTube Short.
