The 2024 Farm Progress Show is in the books and we walked an average of 16,000 steps per day to capture all the latest strip-till insights and innovations in Boone, Iowa. Several companies were on hand to showcase strip-till related products, including Black Eagle Ag, Davis Equipment, Environmental Tillage Systems, J. Assy, Kuhn Krause, Lemken USA, Lynx Ag, Prescription Tillage Technology, Redball, Remlinger, Salford, Schlagel, Summers Manufacturing, SurePoint Ag Systems, Unverferth, Vulcan Equipment, Yetter, Zimmerman and more. Here are 5 of our top takeaways.

Record-Breaking Strip-Tillers in the Spotlight

Everyone who walked by the Pioneer tent saw the faces of Charles City, Va., strip-tiller David Hula and Leesburg, Ga., strip-tiller Alex Harrell on giant signs. The company of course spotlighted Hula (623-bushel corn yield) and Harrell (218-bushel soybean yield) who both used their seeds to rewrite the record books. In between photos and meet-and-greet sessions, we sat down with Harrell and Jonathan Spence of Schlagel Manufacturing to discuss how the Schlagel Rapid Till strip-till unit and cover crops helped set Harrell up for success this summer.

Black Eagle Ag Debuts New Strip-Till Bar

East Moline, Ill.-based Black Eagle Ag brought its 40-foot, 16-row narrow transport strip-till bar to the show for the first time. Doug Hays gives us our first look at the unit in the video below. He tells us it was designed by a strip-tiller in Australia to power through the toughest soil conditions.

The Evolution of Strip-Till Equipment

Speaking of durability, it's one of the top qualities strip-tillers are looking for when purchasing new equipment, says Lance Glendenning, who was showcasing his company's new 36-row strip-till bar. In the video below, Glendenning shares his take on the evolution of the strip-till equipment market since he entered it several years ago, and why strip-tillers are expecting more out of their equipment these days.

Familar Faces, New Showcases

There were tons of familiar models on display, from the Orthman 1tRIPr to the Environmental Tillage Systems SoilWarrior, but also some new features to highlight on the reliable machines that strip-tillers have become familiar with over the years. In the videos below, Curt Davis tells us what's new with the Kuhn Krause Gladiator ST PRO II row unit, and Andy Unverferth fills us in on the new TerrainPro2 row unit for Raptor models 2130 and 2115. Plus, Yetter debuted its new air assist cylinder, which utilizes in-cab control systems for floating row cleaners.

Many strip-tillers are getting ready to hit the field soon and make strips before winter. We stopped by the Environmental Tillage Systems booth, where Dave Sender shared some key things to keep in mind before you fire up the strip-till rig this fall.
