6 Things to Keep in Mind if You’re Strip-Tilling Corn-on-Corn
Farm Journal agronomist Ken Ferrie shares 6 agronomic factors that can help strip-tillers have success with continuous corn this growing season. His first piece of advice is to be realistic with yield goals if it’s your first year doing corn-on-corn. “I know the experienced guys say their corn-on-corn out-yields their corn-on-beans, but that’s when we’ve got 4-5 years of corn-on-corn rolling nutrients forward,” Ferrie says. “The first year of corn-on-corn (the second year of corn) tends to be the roughest.”
Strip-Till Yield Champs Share Insights at Commodity Classic
Charles City, strip-tiller David Hula and Leesburg, Ga., strip-tiller Alex Harrell talked about some of the biggest lessons learned from their record-breaking yields at Commodity Classic earlier this month in Denver, Colo. Read about their top takeaways in this recap from Successful Farming.
