POWERCORE, a new corn trait technology from Dow AgroSciences, received registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
A combination of Herculex I and VT Double Pro, it provides broad-spectrum control of aboveground corn insects, including black cutworm and western bean cutworm.
The trait will be offered as a refuge-in-the-bag product for planting convenience and refuge compliance, and will be stacked with the latest in herbicide-tolerant technology, pending regulatory approvals. A 5% refuge in the Corn Belt and 20% in the Cotton Belt is another key attribute.
Corn growers can expect to see POWERCORE in future demonstration plots. Dow AgroSciences previously launched the trait in Brazil and Argentina in 2012. POWERCORE Refuge Advanced will be launched as early as the 2015 growing season.
