Nick Jensen, President of Thurston Manufacturing, creators of the Blu-Jet line of fertilizer applicators and conservation tillage equipment discusses the unique appeal of the National Strip-Tillage Conference. He also shares how speaking directly to the farmers allows them to help introduce strip-tillers to their product line, keep track of new trends and to help the farmers improve their bottom line.

Strip-Till Farmer editors caught up with Nick Jensen from Thurston Mfg. at the 2016 National Strip-Tillage Conference in Bloomington-Normal, Ill., to discuss new product innovations helping to advance the practice along with emerging trends in strip-till.

Thurston Mfg.’s Nick Jensen introduces the new Blu-Jet Trenchmaster tool designed for filling in trench tile lines in the field. The V design on the blades act as a side rake to bring dirt into the trench, which is then packed and smooth by the leveler. The machine only requires 75-100 horsepower to pull it and it offers a low soil-disturbance alternative to a disc in no-till and strip-till environments.
